30 Day Photo Challenge - Day Three - Totally Random

Day three was yesterday and was supposed to be "clouds" well, there were no good clouds yesterday nor today... So today when I was driving home I saw this in a farmers field. The sprinklers were on and iced up all around. Pretty cool!

I lived down the street from this family for 7 years, and sadly, never even got to know them. They were so nice and their kids were wonderful. They each had such cute personalities and gorgeous eyes.

Halloween Ghosts - Made with KitKats :)

Saw this cute idea on Pinterest and made my own little spin on it. Used mini Kit Kat bars and made little ghosts. Tomorrow is Kinlees turn to take treats to preschool. This was a cute and easy idea!

Pretty self explanatory. You can use toilet paper as well, I just had some white crepe paper on hand!

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 1 - Self Portrait

I got this idea off of Pinterest and thought it would be fun to branch out of the norm and try this!

Here is the challenge :) Day 1 - Self Portrait.

Most people do not like pictures of themselves, let alone taking a picture of themself. This is as creative as I got today. Just wasn't feeling it.

WARNING!!! Objects in mirror appear older than they really are!

Eye Tutorial Before and After

This is a really quick tutorial I put together to show people how I do eyes. They are my absolute favorite thing to edit. I am sure everyone edits eyes their own way, but this is how I do it.

First and most important, MAKE SURE your lighting is right. In order to get the best catchlights in the eye, I either prefer shade, or clouds! On these pictures I just went out to my backporch which is in the shade at this time of day. Perfect foy snapping these shots of the eyes.

The ONLY thing I edited on these pics was the eyes. I know the color is a little off on the skin tones. It is actually funny sometimes to look at the reflection in someones eyes. If you look closely at these, you can see my deck railings and my shadow. LOL. These were taken without a reflector..

Basically I use the dodge tool on the highlights in the iris. I set the opacity at 10% and just lighten up any highlights (catchlights) in the eye.

Then I use the burn tool (also set to 10%) and darken the lashline and the outer rim of the iris to make it pop.

Then I sharpen the eyes about 60% and there you have it.

Sometimes I play around with curves, but this is how I usually do my eyes.

Next time you are out taking pics of someone, look at their eyes before snapping away. You will be able to see How the light reflects in the eye. Also, make sure to set your focal point on the eye closest to you. I know that sounds weird, but it works for me everytime.

Wallsburg

A good old friend of mine had me do their family pics last weekend. They had the "perfect" spot in mind. This cool old barn on some property in a town called Wallsburg. I was in awe of all of the gorgeous scenery and farmland. This barn belongs to an older couple who have lived on the property for many many years who also happen to be friends of this family. So happy they let us do the pics there.
